Juried exhibition planned

River Arts, Inc. will host a 2-D and 3-D artists juried exhibition on exploring the concepts of wings and/or water for the third biennial Wings & Water show. The exhibition will be free and open to the public from Jan. 18-March 9 at River Arts Center, 105 Ninth St., Prairie du Sac. Exhibit hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays-Fridays (closed when Sauk Prairie School District closes) and by appointment at 608-643-5215. A public reception will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 23 when juror Graeme Reid will announce the award recipients with many of the artists in attendance.

Included in the exhibit is “Copper Creek” by Reedsburg, artist Janet Flynn. A moment in time is captured in this painting as a great blue heron takes flight from the creek where it was feeding on small fish. Copper Creek, which is close to the artist’s home, slowly works its way to the Baraboo River with areas of wetlands along its route creating habit for the many wild inhabitants of the area. Here they find places of refuge, forage for food and raise their young.
