A one-car accident on Highway 60 near Lodi killed the driver early today.
At about 12:30 a.m., the Columbia County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a one-vehicle accident on Highway 60 near the intersection of Gluth Road.
Deputies found a 2005 Chevy Cavalier in the ditch of Highway 60 near the intersection of Gluth Road. The vehicle apparently was heading east on Highway 60 when it left the road, went airborne, entered the ditch and overturned, landing on the passenger side.
The driver, who was the only occupant, was unresponsive. Medflight was called to the scene, and the physician onboard Medflight pronounced the driver dead.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The accident remains under investigation. It is undetermined if speed and/or alcohol were factors.
The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family.
