Engblom became the first Badger to win multiple Stanley Cups, helping the Canadiens take home the trophy three consecutive times from 1977-79. Engblom's first NHL game came in the 1977 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but he did not appear in the Final.

Engblom played 28 games in the 1977-78 season and five more in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He had a bigger role in 1978-79, playing 62 regular-season games and another 16 in the Stanley Cup Finals to help the Canadiens win their third straight Cup.
