Brain expert to demystify adolescent thinking

The Sauk Prairie committee of the county-wide Medication-Assisted Treatment and Recovery Support program will host a free public presentation called Brainstorm: Understanding the Mysteries of the Adolescent Mind from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at the River Arts Center, 105 Ninth St., Prairie du Sac.

Attendees will learn to understand how young people’s behaviors, choices and vulnerabilities connect to their developing brains. Dr. Brian Fidlin, a Milwaukee-based adolescent psychologist and nationally-known speaker on brain development and substance abuse, is the presenter.

Dannika Lewis of WISC-TV 3 will emcee, program at 6:40 p.m. at 7:45 p.m. a couple will discuss how they turned their life around and a question and answer session follows at 8:15 p.m. A resource fair will be offered at 5:45 p.m. in the lobby.

Morgan McArthur, community educator for Sauk County UW-Extension said, “These presentations are inspiring and informative. We are aiming them at middle school parents but anyone who wants to learn more about teenage brain development will be enthralled by what they hear. This will be time well-spent!”
