The Badger Lightning co-op girls hockey team fell to 0-9 on the season with Monday’s 8-0 loss to the Rock County Fury at Edwards Ice Arena in Beloit.

The Lightning (0-9, 0-6) were shut out for the second time this season, as the Badger Conference-leading Fury (14-2-2, 7-0-0) dominated throughout.

Rock County jumped ahead early, as Dani Heitsman and Haley Knauf each scored in the opening 2 minutes of the first period. Kaitlynn Beyer and Zoie Steig added goals to give the Fury a 4-0 lead at the first intermission.

Rock County tacked on two goals in the second period and two more in the third period. Steig finished with two goals, as seven Rock County players scored on the night.

Buss made 23 saves for the Lightning, while McKaylie Buescher had a team-high 11 saves for the Fury.

The Lightning will host Viroqua on Thursday at Poppy Waterman Ice Arena.
