The Baraboo girls soccer team got its work done early on Tuesday.
The Thunderbirds scored a pair of first-half goals and played stingy defense to claim a 2-1 home win over Stoughton in a non-conference game.
Sophomore Caitlin Hause got the T-Birds on the board, scoring an unassisted goal to give Baraboo a 1-0 lead.
Senior captain Jordyn Zalewski added an unassisted goal, while the defense pitched a first-half shutout and Baraboo took a 2-0 lead into the break.
Ellie Hennessy nearly added another in the opening minutes of the second half, striking the top of the crossbar with a shot from near the top of the penalty box.
Scoring opportunities were rare the rest of the way, but Stoughton cut the deficit in half with a goal in the 79th minute.
The T-Birds were able to hold off the Vikings down the stretch and hang on for the win. Baraboo will return to Badger North Conference play with Thursday’s home game against Mount Horeb.
