Baraboo/Portage scored five first-period goals and cruised to a non-conference win at Oshkosh on Saturday.

The Thunderbirds (4-4) scored early and often, starting with Jack Macdonald's unassisted goal 1 minute, 3 seconds into the first period. Brenton Gundersen added a goal less than a minute later and the T-Birds were in control.

Joe Zemanovic, Mike Wech and Campbell Koseor each added first-period goals as Baraboo/Portage took a 5-0 lead into the second period.

Evan Goethel became the sixth T-Bird to score on the day when he found the back of the net for an unassisted goal that gave Baraboo/Portage a 6-0 lead 2:24 into the second period.

The scoring slowed until Logan Uecker scored 5:13 into the third period to get Oshkosh (2-5) on the board.

Wech scored his second goal of the night on a power play at the 7:22 mark, then Oshkosh's Grant Kuharski capped off the scoring with a goal with 1:53 remaining in the third period.

Baraboo/Portage goalie Giovanni D'Asto made six saves on the day, while Tyler Baumann tallied 19 saves for the Ice Hawks.

Wech finished with two goals and one assist for Baraboo/Portage, while Macdonald tallied one goal and four assists.

The T-Birds will carry their three-game winning streak into Tuesday's Badger North Conference game at DeForest.
