Officials will get their first look tonight at designs for a new $4.6 million science facility on the University of Baraboo/Sauk County campus.

UW-BSC Dean Tom Pleger and representatives from Bray Architects will appear before the Sauk County Board of Supervisors and the Baraboo City Council during a meeting set to begin at 5 p.m. in the campus lecture hall.

They will present plans for the new facility, which is one of two large pieces of the college’s master plan — the other being the construction of a privately owned and operated dorm. The new science building will replace the existing labs which were constructed in the 1960s.

The cost of the $4.6 million project is split evenly between the county and city, which jointly own the campus property.

The presentation is the only item on the agenda for the Baraboo City Council. However, the Sauk County Board will conduct its regular monthly business during tonight’s special meeting. Also during tonight’s meeting, the board will approve the appointment of supervisors to various committees, boards and commissions for the next two-year term.

In other business, the board will consider a resolution to sell $72,800 worth of county-owned property located in the Town of Baraboo to the state. The state will use the property for U.S. Highway 12 improvements. The board also will consider amending last year’s budget to account for $60,169 in overdraws from various departments. The county has $492,597 available in its 2013 contingency fund to cover the changes. Also, the board will consider a resolution that authorizes its Communications Infrastructure Committee to approve easement and license agreements with telecommunications companies that utilize county property. The resolution also would permit the committee to authorize the relocation of fiber optic lines and enter contracts that would relocate communication structures.
