Authorities say a Spring Green man was intoxicated when he fled the scene of a crash and tried to escape law enforcement before finally being arrested Saturday afternoon.

Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister stated in a news release that Shawn P. Moran, 44, was involved in a three-vehicle crash along state highways 23 and 33 near Aults Road in the town of Excelsior.

After the crash was reported, a deputy spotted Moran’s vehicle along the highway.

“The suspect failed to stop for the deputy, resulting in a brief pursuit until finally entering a private driveway and yard, damaging a fire number sign in the process,” Meister stated in the release.

Moran was arrested for his sixth drunken driving offense, causing injury while drunken driving, fleeing an officer, having open intoxicants in a vehicle, failure to obey a stop sign, hit and run causing injury, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation.
