The Baraboo Rotary Club would like to thank our community for their support on World Polio Day, Oct. 24. On that day, Rotary clubs from around the world raised money to help eradicate polio. A special thank you to Rich and Steve at the Coffee Bean Connection for allowing community helper Deri Ament and Rotary members Laura Stanek, Liz Nevers and Karen Kothbauer to collect donations at their location. Thanks to the generosity of the Baraboo community, over $700 was collected.

Meanwhile, the Baraboo High School Interact Club brought awareness to the high school by educating students and staff about polio eradication and raised over $100 for the cause. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will triple money raised locally; therefore, the money raised in Baraboo will be tripled to equal $2,466. With this money, 14,796 children can be vaccinated.

Eradication of this disease is not far away and Baraboo is playing its part in the process. Thank you Baraboo.

Heather Wood, Rotary President, Baraboo
