“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day-by day and minute-by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” George Orwell in “1984.”

America as we once knew it is being torn down before our eyes. Antifa on streets, rabid aspheterists in academia, the media and the government continue to attack the history of our culture.

I’ve walked the hallowed grounds of Gettysburg to commemorate 7,000 dead Union and Confederate white soldiers who fought on those dreadful summer days of July 1863; not to celebrate. Their statues and memorials are a testament to their struggles.

Discussing and knowing our origins is basic to civilized culture. No one group has been anointed to determine which monuments should be torn down and which should be saved.

Fanatics abound — Antifa, Islamic terrorists and communists whose goals are to end civilization and humankind.

“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.” George Orwell, a socialist who knew the threat of despotism.
