MILWAUKEE - Nine players entered the scorebook with Emily Brinker leading the way with 11 points, and the Baraboo Thunderbirds girls basketball team held off the host Milwaukee Washington Purgolders, 50-42 on Saturday.

BHS held the Purgolders to single digits scoring through three quarters and led 40-16, before the home team made a furious but futile effort in the fourth with a 26-10 run.

Meghan Kreilkamp added nine points for the T-Birds, and Megan McVenes provided eight, a day after scoring a career-high 15 points in a win over Madison Edgewood.

Baraboo owned the boards, outrebounding Milwaukee 51-30. Brianne Schwarz pulled down a team-high nine.

The Thunderbirds (13-4, 8-1 Badger North), winners of nine of their last 10 games, travel to Sauk Prairie on Friday in Badger North Conference action.
