GVE receives $2,500 award

Green Valley Enterprises received a $2,500 National Exchange Bank Foundation Award Sept. 27 to complete improvements in its Life Academy Youth and Family Center. The academy is a post-high school transitional program that helps students with special needs develop employment skills and become more informed about individual life and career choices.

The award will allow GVE to install a noise abatement system in the academy building, an open concept learning center that can echo. Students will also benefit from an independent living based curriculum taught by licensed professionals to learn and practice basic skills they will need to live more independently upon graduation.
