Man killed in fiery crash

A man was killed when his pickup truck rolled down a 26-foot embankment and burst into flames early Sunday morning in Dodge County, Sgt. Dennis Walston said.

Investigators found the pickup truck failed to negotiate a turn on Highway 49 near the intersection of Highway Z near the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge and struck a guardrail before rolling down the embankment and catching fire. At 2:15 a.m., another driver reported seeing flames near a vacant barn, Walston said.

The driver was found inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who was not the owner of the vehicle, was so badly burned that authorities are waiting until after an autopsy, scheduled for Monday, to release his identity, Walston said.
