An 18-year-old Beaver Dam man died this morning when the car he was driving crossed the centerline of Highway 26 and collided with a semi truck.
According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s department, the 18-year-old was driving south on Highway 26 near just north of Highway JM at 6:32 a.m. His car crossed the centerline and a semi truck being driven north by a 57-year-old Milwaukee man swerved, but was unable to avoid a collision. The car struck the left front tire of the semi tractor.
The 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner. The truck driver was taken to the hospital for injuries.
The sheriff’s department said speed was not a factor in the accident.
It was the 11th traffic fatality this year in Dodge County, compared to 17 at this time last year.
