BEAVER DAM - United Cooperative, based out of Beaver Dam, recently announced the names of graduating high school seniors who will receive $1,000 scholarships. Derek Bahr of Randolph, Ryan Bennett of Horicon, Rebecca Keel of Juneau, Otto Oemig IV of Markesan, Brianna Salomaki of Beaver Dam and Kyle Schade of Beaver Dam, were among more than 50 applicants. Applicants and/or their parents had to be patron members of United Cooperative. Applicants must also attend an accredited college, university, or technical school and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Students were judged on their leadership skills, scholastic achievement, extra curricular activities, motivation and academic and personal goals.
Derek Bahr, Randolph, son of Larry and Kristine Bahr, is a senior at Randolph High School. He will attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, majoring in architecture.
Ryan Bennett, Horicon, son of Andrew and Jill Bennett, is a senior at Horicon High School. He will attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Minneapolis, were he will major in civil engineering.
Rebecca Keel, Juneau, daughter of Steve and Laura Keel, is a senior at Beaver Dam High School. She will attend the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, majoring in pre-veterinary medicine.
Otto Oemig IV, Markesan, son of Otto Oemig III and Kathy Oemig, is a senior at Markesan High School. He will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in dairy science.
Brianna Salomaki, Beaver Dam, son of Thomas and Teresa Salomaki, is a senior at Beaver Dam High School. She will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in biology.
Kyle Schade, Beaver Dam, son of Randall and Mary Beth Schade, is a senior at Beaver Dam High School. He will attend Moraine Park Technical College, Fond du Lac, majoring in mechanical design.
The scholarships were made available through the United Co-op Federated Youth Foundation account.
