Banner needs restoration

WAUPUN — The Waupun Historical Society is collecting funds to conserve an American Legion First Annual Labor Day 1921 banner stored in the Waupun Heritage Museum. The banner is 13 inches by 18 inches and is made of cloth. The cloth has several bad tears.

Anthony Rajer, the same man who repairs Waupun's statues, said that he will conserve the banner for $350. The banner will be carefully sewn to another piece of cloth and put into an acid-free frame.

The Waupun Heritage Museum is seeking donations for this conservation project. Please send tax deductible checks made out to the Waupun Historical Society to: Jim Laird, 314 Beaver Dam St., Waupun, WI 53963-1840.

The Waupun Heritage Museum, located at 22 S. Madison St., is open the first and third Sunday of every month. At other times call Jim Laird, (920) 324-3878 for admittance. Admission is free and donations are appreciated.
