JUNEAU — A search warrant filed in Dane County Circuit Court April 23 names three men who may have participated in two pipe bomb explosions that destroyed a mail box and portable toilet on April 21.

Dodge County Sheriff's officers questioned Kyle Livingston and Robert M. Hanson April 22 when the two arrived at Lost Lake Park in the town Calamus a day after a pipe bomb had destroyed a portable toilet there, according to information provided in the warrant.

Beaver Dam Police officers had previously identified both Hanson and Livingston in a store surveillance photo that depicts three men suspected of purchasing pipe and end caps similar to those used in the explosions from Fleet & Farm in Beaver Dam.

When questioned, the two men told police that Stephen D. Peterson, 19, had blown something up at a boat landing the day before. They also said that Peterson had a two-pound bag of powdered magnesium, a .308 assault rifle and a .45 caliber semi-automatic hand gun in his apartment.

Upon searching Hanson's car, a detective reported finding two plastic wrappers for galvanized end caps inside.

Peterson has an address listed in the city of Beaver Dam, and two address listed in the city of Fitchburg.

Peterson's apartment at 1808 N. Center St. No. 17, in Beaver Dam was searched by a special agent with the State Department of Justice- Division of Criminal Investigation on April 22.

According to the warrant, "some tools and materials to make pipe bombs," were recovered along with a ballistic vest, police scanner and the guns Livingston and Hanson had described.

Peterson reportedly called police just before midnight April 22 and said that he was going to turn himself in. However, an officer conducting surveillance on his apartment saw Peterson's vehicle flee the area through a field behind the residence.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Department announced in a press release April 23 that three suspects had been apprehended in the case and were being held on parole violation.
