By DENA HARRIS
Staff Reporter

FOX LAKE—Karen Hughes of the Fox Lake Parent Teacher Organization donated the remainder of the organization's funds to the Waupun Area School District at the school board meeting Monday. After spending as much as they could for the Fox Lake students, $2,010 was left over.

According to Hughes, the PTO sponsored many activities for the Fox Lake students and teachers throughout the school year, including:

-Wild Goose Chase at Fox Lake

-Shoe tags for students at the Tuesday/Thursday Trot

-Snacks for third through fifth graders during testing

-Teacher appreciation celebrations

-Staff meals during parent-teacher conferences

-Beach dance for students, including pizza and cupcakes

-Bought a book for every student in the Fox Lake Elementary at the Scholastic Book Fair

-Contributed to the purchase of GPS units

-Donated to the Fox Lake Public Library for the summer reading program

-Gave a $100 allowance to each of the teachers for school projects

-Bought ice cream for the last day of school

-Sponsored yearbooks

-Provided snacks at the open house

-Movie night with chocolate fountain

"We wanted the Fox lake kids to benefit because they helped raise the money," Hughes said.

Hughes requested that the funds be split between the Rock River Intermediate and Meadow View Primary PTO's when they are formed.

An additional $358 will come in later from the milk caps and ink jets that were sent in.
