Man arrested for 5th OWI with children in vehicle

 

A 44-year-old Waupun man was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while Intoxicated with passengers under the age of 16, which is a felony. 

Troy Navis is currently being held for his fifth offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and probation violations after being a subject of a motorist complaint of his weaving was received at 11:33 a.m., on Thursday.

A motorist called in Navis's erratic driving in the township of Trenton, Dodge County Sheriff Todd Nehls said. He was operating a pickup truck and pulling a boat. A responding deputy observed Navis approach him in his lane of traffic and stopped him on Jersey Road. 

Navis was taking his two young children fishing.

Navis was arrested and taken for a blood test and subsequently incarcerated. 

In 2006, Navis was convicted of fourth offense OWI with young children in the vehicle as well. 

"Why place your children in this position, why endanger their safety because of your substance abuse problem," Nehls said.
