JUNEAU — An Oconomowoc man who arrived drunk to a hearing at the Dodge County Courthouse has been sentenced to prison for felony bail jumping.
Dodge County Judge Brian Pfitzinger sentenced James A. Poe, 43, to 2 years in prison and 3 years of supervision on two counts of felony bail jumping. He must also serve an additional four years of probation.
Poe was ordered to maintain absolute sobriety by the court during proceedings for his third offense of drunken driving. However, a deputy working security at the justice facility notified other officers when Poe stumbled through the metal detectors and nearly fell down at the security checkpoint. Poe admitted that he had been drinking to the deputy, but begged her not to tell Dodge County Judge Brian Pfitzinger, who he was scheduled to appear before, according to a criminal complaint.
Poe reportedly made his court appearance, and was arrested by deputies for bail jumping immediately after. A breath test later revealed a blood-alcohol concentration of .23 percent.
Poe has also been sentenced to an additional 3 to 5 months in jail on his third conviction of driving drunk and resisting an officer. He must also pay $4,627, his driver’s license has been revoked for 36 months and he has to use an ignition interlock for 36 months.
