MAYVILLE — A 24-year-old Fall River man faces charges early next week after eluding police in a chase that reached more than 120 miles per hour Thursday night.
According to Mayville Police Capt. Chris MacNeill, the incident started at 8:17 p.m. when Mayville K-9 Police Officer Ryan Vossekuil noticed a brakelight out on a white 2005 Oldsmobile Aurora. As Vossekuil turned his cruiser around, the suspect took off at a high rate of speed.
“He left town on Highway Y then got on Highway 49 headed for Waupun,” MacNeill said. “Speeds reached 120 miles per hour. The Fond du Lac and Dodge County sheriff’s departments and Waupun Police were called to assist. Two Mayville officers were also involved in the 17.8-mile chase.”
MacNeill said when the chase reached Waupun, the suspect attempted to pass a car on the right, shot over the curb and landed in the driveway of a home in the 700 block of East Main Street.
“He fled south through the back yards with Vossekuil and his K-9 Frankie chasing him. However we lost him because he was jumping over fences,” MacNeill said.
The man was arrested Friday morning at the Marshland Mobil gas station and taken to the Dodge County Jail.
He will be charged Monday or Tuesday.
