The Dodge County Humane Society is asking for the owner of this black cat to contactit in hopes of getting medical treatment for the cat, who was involved in an accident Thursday night.

A cat that was struck by a motorcycle on Thursday night may have used one of its nine lives but had some pretty nice angels who have been trying to help the cat ever since.

The cat and the motorcycle were near the intersection of Burnett and York Streets at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday.

“The driver of the motorcycle tried to swerve to miss the cat but the pedal on the motorcycle struck the cat in the head,” Dodge County Humane Society office manager Mandy Lecapitaine said.

The black cat was taken to the Dodge County Humane Society. Lecapitaine said the cat’s right eye was bloody from the accident but has since cleared up.

“She’s very lucky,” Lecapitaine said. “She was pretty rough last night. There was a lot of bleeding.”

There are obvious signs that the cat is a house cat, Lecapitaine said.

“She’s belongs to somebody,” Lecapitaine said. “It’s not like she’s always outside. She’s fairly healthy and just a sweet girl.”

The cat has no scars like feral cats would have, Lecapitaine said. The cat is a solid black cat who appears to be between two and three years old. The cat’s front paws are declawed but it still has back claws.

There was no microchip in the cat.

As of Friday afternoon, Lecapitaine said no one had  reported the cat missing. However it is in the best interest of the cat if the owner is found. The humane society is doing all that it can but it knows that there is more that the owners can do for the cat.

“All we can do is give her medication,” Lecapitaine said. “There is definitely head trauma. She needs her owner so she can get medical treatment.”

To claim the cat call the humane society at 386-0000.
