JUNEAU — A 31-year-old Lomira man who was arrested last spring after he transmitted images of nude children to an undercover police officer in Ohio has been convicted of child sexual assault.
Ryan D. Davison pleaded no contest Monday to charges that include two counts of first degree child sexual assault. Dodge County Judge Andrew Bissonnette accepted Davison’s plea and found him guilty of three felony charges. Davison will return to court for sentencing in February.
A police chief from New Waterford, Ohio, who was posing as the mother of a 13-year-old girl in an Internet chat room received nude images of an adult male engaging in sexual activity with children — one approximately four years old — from Davison in May, according to a criminal complaint.
Davison reportedly asked the undercover officer if he would consider allowing a man to have sex with his 13-year-old daughter. The officer was able to use phone records to identify Davison several hours later when he sent a text-message photo of himself to the officer, according to the complaint.
Less than 24 hours later, Lomira police secured a search warrant for Davison’s home on Maple Street and took him into custody for questioning.
According to a complaint, Davison told police that the images he sent of adult males engaging in sexual activity with young children were not of him. He said they were sent to him by other people he met online.
However, Davison did allegedly admit to taking nude photos of a young child — one which also included himself — that he sent to the undercover officer.
In addition to Davison’s convictions on three felony counts, four counts of possession of child pornography were dismissed and read into court records.
Davison has been held in Dodge County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond since his initial court appearance in May.
