Mayor, seven aldermanic seats open

By Citizen Staff

The city of Beaver Dam mayor’s office and even-numbered aldermanic seats will be up for election in April 2010.

Those interested in running for mayor or alderperson may pick up declaration of candidacy papers at the city clerk’s office at city hall, 205 S. Lincoln Ave., beginning Dec. 1. The completed declaration of candidacy, along with nomination papers, must be submitted to the city clerk by Jan. 5 at 5 p.m.

Incumbents deciding against re-election, meanwhile, have until Dec. 28 at 5 p.m. to file non-candidacy papers.

Although no official decision has been announced, Mayor Tom Kennedy has said it is his intention to run for a second two-year term.

Those alderpersons up for re-election, meanwhile, are Mary Flaherty (2nd Ward), Howard Abel (4th Ward), Andrew Westenmeyer (6th Ward), Mick McConaghy (8th Ward), Don Neuert (10th Ward), Donna Maly (12th Ward) and Rob Radig (14th Ward). Aldermanic terms are two years in length.

The election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 6. If more than two candidates emerge in a race, a primary will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16.
