Teen arrested after Hwy. 151 chase

FOND DU LAC - An 18-year-old Sun Prairie man was arrested early Sunday morning after he led police officers on a chase that reached speeds of 100 MPH while traveling the wrong way on Highway 151.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, a car was spotted at 2:27 a.m. traveling north in the southbound lanes of Highway 151 in Dodge County. The Dodge County Sheriff’s department was not able to intercept the car before it entered Fond du Lac County.

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the car speeding north in the wrong lane on Highway 151 near Highway AS in the town of Waupun about six minutes later. The deputy tried to stop the car, but the driver did not pull over.

Several deputies joined the chase as the man continued north in the southbound lanes forcing other vehicles off the road.

The chase ended on the Highway 151 bypass around Fond du Lac after the driver ran over ‘stop sticks” near Golf Course Drive and the car’s tires went flat.

The driver, was arrested without incident. He is being held on charges of knowingly fleeing an officer, first degree recklessly endangering safety and several traffic offenses.

The sheriff’s department said there was no property damage during the chase and no one was injured. Alcohol was not a factor.
