Jack Hankes can now drop interim from his title.
K. Scott Abrams, president of the board of directors of Green Valley, announced that Hankes has been selected as the new executive director for Green Valley Enterprises in Beaver Dam, replacing long time executive director Jeanine Knudson.
"Jack brings a unique array of skills and experiences to the position," said Abrams, "and he’s demonstrated during his interim assignment that he can apply those skills and experiences very effectively."
Hankes is a native of Beaver Dam. After a successful career in the United States Air Force, he returned to his hometown. He eventually ran for the office of mayor and served the city in that capacity from 2004 to 2008. He declined to run for a third term.
"I’m lucky to be handed the reins of a wonderful organization, and I have no intention of changing our focus, which is helping special needs families, Hankes said. "That said, any organization which relies on a patchwork of funding, some of which is public, is likely to see funding pressure in the next few years. We have made, and will continue to make changes to position for that future, but our core mission of being there for the families who need us is inviolate."
He was named interim director at Green Valley Enterprises in May of 2009. His new assignment begins immediately.
Green Valley Enterprises is a vocational rehabilitiation center in Beaver Dam. It is a private company categorized under rehabilitation services and was established in 1968.
Jack and his wife Debbie are the adoptive parents of three children: Ryan, Daniel and Olivia Grace. They also serve as foster parents.
