The Kekoskee Fire Department battled a house fire earlytoday that was caused by an electric blanket.
Kekoskee Fire Chief Rick Roll said the fire started when the man who resides at N7987 Highway TW threw his smoldering electric blanket out his window and onto an outside deck at 1:40 a.m.
The man then went to put water on his hands which had been burned by the blanket. The wind fanned the blanket and flames spread to the outside wall of the home.
The west wall of the home was damaged by fire. There was other smoke and water damage, but Roll said the home was not heavily damaged.
"We used 300 gallons of water only which isn't bad," Roll said.
Mayville Fire Department provided mutual aid while the Dodge County Sheriff's Department and Mayville Police were on scene to control traffic in the area.
