Demoltion of buildings in downtown Beaver Dam caused a power outage to surrounding blocks Tuesday afternoon.
Beaver Dam Police received a report of a sound like an explosion when the power went out in the 100 block of Front Street on Tuesday at 4:50 p.m.
Alliant Energy was contacted and discovered the outage was tied to construction crews who were demolishing buildings. The department of public works responded to put out stop signs for the traffic.
The area included about a block in every direction from the demolition area.
The power was restored about 90 minutes later.
