JUNEAU: Business owner jailed for beating

The owner of Spare Time Bowl, 25 S. Main St., Mayville, has been sentenced to jail for beating a man who reportedly stole a bottle of vodka from the establishment.

Thomas J. Bellino, 45, Mayville, was sentenced to 120 days in jail and one year of probation on a misdemeanor battery conviction.

According to a criminal complaint, Bellino confronted the man in Long Shots Tavern and talked him into coming to Spare Time Bowl with him. Once inside, Bellino locked the door and punched the victim in the eye, knocking him off a bar stool, when the man admitted to stealing a bottle of vodka from Bellino.

The victim told police that Bellino continued to punch and kick him while he lay on the floor. Bellino stated in the complaint that he hit the man in the face once, but denied beating him after he fell to the ground.
