The Beaver Dam Community Library and the Dodge County Multicultural Coalition invite the public to celebrate our community's heritage at the Dodge County Global Fair.
The event will be held Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Beaver Dam Community Library.
The day-long celebration will have a variety of community booths representing our community's cultural heritage and professional cultural entertainment as well as dazzling activities for children.
For main stage entertainment, Children of the Sun Drum Troupe will perform at 1 p.m. The Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing's Children of the Sun drum troupe is the first and only known performing drum troupe comprised of young deaf and hard-of-hearing musicians. The troupe uses African rhythms and dance to engage and encourage audience participation.
This troupe performs throughout the state under the direction of its musical director Jahmes Finlayson. This program is being sponsored by John Deere.
A sign interpreter will be available so all community members will have the opportunity to learn about drumming and the Children of the Sun Drum Troupe.
Educational activities, food and booths include exhibits from Peru, Mexico and other Latin American countries, Australia, China, Mexico, Columbia, India, Africa, the Mediterranean area and Breads Around the World. International story telling and a bounce house will entertain children.
The Global Fair is an event co-organized by the Beaver Dam Community Library and the Dodge County Multi-cultural Coalition to celebrate our heritage. The goal of the fair is to promote cultural awareness and understanding within Dodge County. The Global Fair is free and open to all ages.
Thanks are extended to the Global Fair sponsors including the Beaver Dam Community Library, John Deere and the Dodge County Multicultural Coalition.
