JUNEAU — A 33-year-old Waupun man was sentenced to serve three years in prison Tuesday for charges related to injuring a Beaver Dam police officer during a chase on foot.

Bradley A. Buechel appeared before Dodge County Circuit Court Judge Steven Bauer. Buechel was sentenced to three years of initial incarceration and three years of an extended sentence. He must pay $189 in restitution to the victim and court costs.

Buechel was found guilty Sept. 19 of a felony charge of resisting an officer causing a soft tissue injury.

According to the criminal complaint, three Beaver Dam officers were doing extra patrol in the Lakecrest Drive area May 16 at 10:40 p.m. when three people ran from one of the apartments. An officer tried to stop one of them and tackled him. Buechel allegedly resisted arrest and the officer was injured in the scuffle. Another officer assisted and they were eventually able to hold Buechel down.

Buechel’s wallet was found in a grassy area and drugs were found inside. Buechel was taken to a squad car and he was asked what drugs he was carrying. He allegedly said he had heroin and crack, but did not know how much he had with him.
