TOWN OF TRENTON — A 27-year-old man died when his car left the road and struck a tree in the town of Trenton early Sunday morning.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the man was driving a Pontiac G6 north on Highway 151 at 3:06 a.m. when the car failed to negotiate a slight curve north of Highway C. The car entered the ditch on the east side of the road and struck a tree.

The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner.

Northbound 151 was closed for closed for three hours following the crash. According to a press release from the sheriff’s department, alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors in the crash. No information was provided about whether the man was wearing a seat belt.

Assisting at the scene were Beaver Dam Fire and Paramedics, Beaver Dam Police Department, Waupun Police Department, Dodge County Medical Exmainer, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain and Dodge County Emergency Response Team.
