WAUPUN —The recall election for the 18th Senate District will be held on Aug. 9.

According to Waupun City Clerk Angie Hull there will be several changes in this election which are:

• Monday, July 25 - The first day electors can vote absentee in the clerk’s office at city hall.

• Thursday, Aug. 4 - The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail (not including indefinitely confined and military).

• Friday, Aug. 5 - The last day to vote absentee in the clerk’s office; the last day for indefinitely confined and military to request an absentee ballot by mail, and the last day to register to vote in the clerk’s office

Hull said several changes appeared with the July 12, primary recall election and the same changes will be seen at the Aug. 9, election. Among those changes, was asking for photo ID and signing of a poll book.

“Electors will again be asked for photo ID, however if they do not have acceptable photo ID, it will not prevent them from voting. However a photo ID will be required for all elections starting in 2012,” she said.

Another change in this election is if an elector — who does not have a disability that prevents him or her from physically being able to sign the poll book — refuses to sign the poll book, he or she will not receive a ballot.

Polling hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Waupun City Hall, 201 E. Main St.

Dodge County will vote in the upper level in the auditorium and Fond Du Lac County will vote in the lower level in the council chambers.

Those listed on the Aug. 9 ballot are Randy Hopper, Jessica King and a space for a write-in candidate.
