FOX LAKE — A longstanding tradition continues Sunday at 1 p.m. as the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce hosts the city’s annual downtown St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The event has been going on for more than 40 years and honors the many Irish connections of the city’s past and present. (Of course, everyone is Irish that day.)
Lineup begins at noon on Depot Street. Everyone is welcome and registration is $10 for those entries that wish to be judged. Entry fees will be collected Sunday at the corner of Green and Depot streets. Fees cover the costs of prizes for best float or parade entries.
“No float is too big or too small,” organizer Erin Pecunis said. “The parade is different each and every year with floats from all over. Bring the whole family and help Fox Lake celebrate.”
Guests are invited to help find the hidden leprechaun in the city, and to turn it in to parade organizers after the parade to win a prize. Entertainment will be provided on College Avenue for about an hour after the parade.
