Jerry N. Weissmann, 76, Columbus, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at the Larson House Assisted Living in Columbus.
He was born Aug. 30, 1941, in Columbus, to Norbert and Sylvia (Schroeder) Weissmann. Jerry was a 1959 graduate of Columbus High School. He was married to Karen Moreland at St. Jerome Church in 1968. Jerry was a lifelong area farmer. He also was a grain hauler and treasurer for NFO. He served on the board for Columbus Mutual Insurance.
Survivors include his wife, Karen of Columbus; two daughters, Louise Rusch of Arkansas and Cynthia Weissmann of Columbus; two sons, Thomas (Dawn) of Columbus and Roger (Sharon Lyon) of Rubicon; seven grandchildren, Brandon Jacob, Andrew Jacob, Timothy Jacob, Jordan Jacob, Aimee Weissmann (Jeremy Berndt), Ashley Olson and Amber Weissmann; five great-grandchildren, Cloie, Emmett, Lillie, Alyanna and Kali; one sister, Kathleen (Ronald) Koehn of Columbus; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Thursday, Sept. 21, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Columbus. The Rev. Garrett Kau will officiate. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m., with a rosary service at 8 p.m. at the Jensen Funeral Home in Columbus, and Thursday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
