John (Hat) Howard Hatzinger passed away peacefully at Tahoe/Carson City Hospital in Nevada on Nov. 5, 2017, after a short illness.

John was born Sept. 1, 1947, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Beaver Dam. He attended St. Peter’s Catholic School and Beaver Dam High School. He was a part of the 1965 graduating class. John then attended UW-Stout for two years, after which he joined the U.S. Army. While serving in the Army, John was posted in Germany. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he attended school in Wausau.

John was a draftsman when he moved to Incline Village, Nevada, more than 40 years ago. He later obtained his Residential Home Designer Designation from the state of Nevada, of which he was very proud. His name and stamp appear on many new homes and remodeled plans in the Tahoe and Carson City areas.

John was an avid bowler, a golfer, and a huge Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan. He also enjoyed auto racing and the rodeo. John always tried to catch a Packers or Brewers game and a round of golf with his brothers and friends when he was home. He also spent time with his family and friends in Beaver Dam and Fond du Lac.

John is survived by his brothers, Marc (Donna), Paul and Hugh (Brenda) Hatzinger; nieces, Twila (Jon) Hankes, Megan (Jacob) Leick, Amanda, Kara and Kelsey; nephew, Matt (Jamie) Hatzinger; grandnieces and grandnephews, Henry, Theodore, Oliver, Madelyn, Charlotte and Hudson; cousin, Tom (Lisa) Hatzinger, Teresa, Jessica and Kristen.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Dorothy; aunts and uncles, Eleanor (Irving) Ehrke and Urban (Crystal) Hatinger; and his grandparents.

A special thanks to Mike (Jeanie) Miller and Dan (Beth) Wheeler and to all his friends in Nevada. John will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

There will be a celebration of John’s life at Stooges Bar in Beaver Dam on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 3-5 p.m.
