Germaine M. Stenzel, 87, Columbus, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison.
She was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Milwaukee, to Joseph and Margaret (Calabrese) Schmidt. She was married to John “Jack” Stenzel on July 23, 1951, in Milwaukee.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry (Dale) Smith of Verona; her son, Jay (Joyce) Stenzel of Columbus; five grandchildren, Jonathan (Heather) Stenzel, Jason Stenzel, Scott (Becky) Smith, Nicole Smith and Susie Morgan; six great-grandchildren, Cora and Sadie Smith and Kaylee, Madalynn, Robert and Zoey Stenzel; two sisters, Edith (Donald) Severson of Washington state and Carmel Schmidt of Milwaukee; one brother, Edward (Nancy) Schmidt of Sister Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack, in 2002; a brother, Richard Schmidt; and granddaughter, Katie Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, in Columbus. The Rev. Garret Kau will officiate. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Milwaukee.
