Fredric A. “Fred” Pattengale, 88, Burlington, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Aurora Memorial Hospital in Burlington.

Born in Milwaukee on April 14, 1929, he was the son of Armen and Josephine (nee House) Pattengale. He spent his early life in the Milwaukee and Bay View area and was a graduate of Hartford High School. Following high school, he served in the Army, where he was stationed in Alaska.

In August of 1982, he was united in marriage to Mary Ruth Starks. They made their home in Oak Creek until they moved to Burlington in 2012. Fred worked for Delco as a data analyst for 40.4 years. He was active in the Oak Creek community and was the president of the Jaycees and served as an alderman. He made a variety of items while pursuing his woodworking hobby. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, growing vegetables in his garden and he and Mary traveled in Mexico on several occasions. For the past 25 years, they shared their time between Wisconsin and Mission, Texas.

Fred is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Wendy (Jerry) Hammernik of Oak Creek, Joel (Judy) Pattengale of Livingston, Montana, David (Rochelle) Pattengale of Mount Pleasant and Douglas (Karen) Pattengale of Norway, Wisconsin; stepchildren, Salli (Dennis) Bellis of Waterford, Marlene (Cody) Dimmitt of Athens, Alabama, Lisa (Paul) Grossmeier of Mukwonago and Peggy (Chuck Kaye) Pieffle. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with three siblings, Doris Schurrer, Barbara Boulieu and Bruce Pattengale. He was preceded in death by his parents, and first wife, Gertrude (nee Sprengeler) Pattengale, who was the mother of his children.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials go to Aurora at Home Hospice.

The family thanks the staff at Southern Lakes Cancer Center, Harbor View Dialysis of Racine, and the nurses and doctors at Aurora Memorial Hospital in Burlington for their wonderful care.

A service for Fred will be held on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Bob Wang officiating.
