Mildred M. Meitner, 101, Beaver Dam, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at Dycora Health Center in Beaver Dam.

Mildred was born July 6, 1916, in the town of Portland, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Elsie (Riege) Bleifuss. She was married to Howard W. Meitner Aug. 24, 1937. Together they farmed in the Waterloo and Lowell areas until the 1950s.

Mildred was a member of the Lowell United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the ladies aid. She made hand-woven rugs and sold them at area flea markets. Mildred enjoyed playing cards and bingo and collecting glass cruets. She traveled around the U.S. and made several trips to Alaska.

Mildred is survived by her sons, Gary (Carol) Meitner of Winneconne and James Meitner of Neshkoro; her grandchildren, John Meitner, Erik (Rossie) Meitner, Randy Meitner, and Jennifer Meitner; her great-granddaughter, Victoria; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; and her sister, Angerina Kircher.

A visitation will be held at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam Monday, Sept. 25, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Sun-Joong Kim will officiate. Interment will take place at Washington Cemetery, township of Portland, Wisconsin.
