Jeanne M. Dornfeldt

MAYVILLE -- Jeanne M. Dornfeldt, 90, of Horicon, died on Friday, Aug. 1, 2008 at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Friends may gather on Monday, Aug. 4, at the Murray Funeral Home in Horicon from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The funeral service for Jeanne will be on Monday at the funeral home at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Mary Mail officiating. Cremation will follow.

The former Jeanne Mae Ruppenthal was born on May 19, 1918, in Milwaukee to the late Eugene and Mabel (Kunz) Ruppenthal. Jeanne attended college at the UW-Madison and graduated in 1941. Later, she received her master's degree. Jeanne was a librarian for the Mayville Public Library for 23 years. In 1971, she was nominated as the Librarian of the Year. Jeanne taught at the Dodge County Teachers College and was a teacher/librarian at the Fox Lake Correctional Institution for 20 years. Jeanne was a genealogical researcher and was a member of the Collectors Clique in Horicon.

Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Dennis) Persha and Lee Dornfeldt, all of Horicon; her foster daughter, Debbie (Del) Kramer of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Stephanie (Lee) Bonack of Mayville, Stacey Persha of Madison, Lindsey Kramer of Fond du Lac, and Jackie Kramer of Beaver Dam, and her great-grandchildren, Jessica Bachhuber and Matt Bonack, both of Mayville. She is further survived by her brother, Leland (Pam Meyer) Ruppenthal of Oconomowoc, a sister, Eunice Fitzgerald of Wauwatosa, her closest friends, Jo Anne VandeZande and Janet Molebash, both of Mayville, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and the father of her children, Melvin Dornfeldt.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Jeanne's name to the Dodge County Humane Society.
