WAUPUN - Willard W. "Bill" Bloedow, 82, of Waupun, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at his home.
Willard was born July 28, 1926, in Naperville, Ill., the son of Ernest and Irene Bloedow. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ludlow from 1944 to 1946. On Sept. 17, 1949, he married Florence Krueger in Waukesha. The couple moved to Port Washington in 1962 where Bill was employed by Simplicity Manufacturing until his retirement. In December of 1988, the couple moved to Waupun where the couple lived ever since, and Bill worked for the Greyhound bus line. Bill was an active member of the Dodge County Board.
Bill was a faithful and active member of both the Port Washington and Waupun United Methodist churches. His life included affiliation with the Masonic Lodge, the local VFW and the American Legion Post 210. In his free time he volunteered at Marsh Haven Nature Center and also helped deliver Meals on Wheels.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Florence; children, Vicki (Robert) Gandolf, Fond du Lac, Holly (Ronald) McGettrick, Sheboygan, Jill Anzia, Oostburg, Todd Bloedow, Waupun, Bill Bloedow Jr., Waupun, Steven (Blanche) Bloedow, Little Chute, and David Bloedow, Fond du Lac; daughter-in-law, Jan Bloedow, Waupun; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Bloedow; brothers, Richard and Fred Bloedow, and a great-aunt Anna Bloedow.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m. at Waupun United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.D. McCarty officiating. Masonic rites will precede the service. Burial will follow in Ash Creek Cemetery in Richland Center. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Thursday at the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
