Wilma M. Graubner

SUN PRAIRIE/COLUMBUS - Wilma Marguerite Graubner, 86, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, surrounded by her family.

Wilma was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Lone Rock, Iowa, to Marc and Anna Pearl (Steinmetz) Moore. Wilma grew up and lived in Iowa until 1961, when she relocated to Columbus, Wis. In 1981, she moved to Sun City, Ariz., and married Rev. Horace A. Graubner on June 4, 1982. In 2002, Wilma moved to Prairie Gardens in Sun Prairie to be closer to her family. Wilma was a sales associate for JCPenney for over 18 years. She loved to knit and bake in her free time and always made sure her friends had a birthday cake or a special treat when they stopped to visit.

She is survived by four children, Marc (Karen) Dean, Eagle River, Mary (Wayne) McGinnis, Harker Heights, Texas, Martha (Robert) Klubertanz, Sun Prairie, and William (Judy) Dean, Horicon; eight grandchildren, Michael Dean, Mequon, David (Heather) Dean, Meridian, Idaho, Michelle (Paul) Muetlein, Eagle River, Patrick Alberts, San Antonio, Texas, Scott (Amanda) Alberts, Kenosha, Jonathon Klubertanz, Myrtle Beach, S.C., April (Jay) Wolfe, Hartford, and Darrel Dean, Sun Prairie; five great-grandchildren, Mattea and Paloma Dean, Michael and Joseph Alberts, and Claire Wolfe; a sister, Maxine (Wayne) Ford, Mankato, Minn.; sister-in-law, Jeniece (Richard ) Laurent, Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Emmert W. Dean Jr., and second husband, Horace, and a granddaughter, Sarah Dean.  

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of services. Private burial services will be held in The Riverside Cemetery in Algona, Iowa, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care Inc. or Alzheimer's  Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.   

The family thanks the staff at Prairie Gardens and Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Mom.
