RANDOLPH -- Clifford M. King, 87, died peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. from Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake. The Rev. Michael Wild will officiate. Burial will follow in Annunciation Catholic Cemetery in Randolph with military graveside rites conducted by Robert W. Ginther American Legion Post 521 of Fox Lake and VFW Post 9510 of Randolph. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be served following the committal service at the American Legion Hall in Fox Lake.
Clifford was born on Oct. 24, 1920, in the Randolph area. He was a 1938 graduate of Randolph High School. Clifford served his country in the U. S. Navy serving from 1940 to 1944. Clifford was united in marriage to Marvel Watters in 1947. He was employed with C.C. Link in Beaver Dam for more than 42 years as a grader operator and traveled throughout Wisconsin working on highways. Clifford had a love of animals. He enjoyed raising German Shorthair dogs and raised Arabians, Appaloosas, Palominos and Buckskin horses. He even purchased two wild horses in Texas and brought them back to his home to train them for riding. Clifford will always be remembered as an avid Packer and Brewer fan, a gardener of flowers and vegetables and for his daily drives around the area with his best pal, canine BeBe. Clifford was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake, the Robert W. Ginther American Legion Post 521, having served as past commander, in Fox Lake and the V.F.W. Post 9510 in Randolph.
Clifford will be sadly missed and mourned by his son, David E. King of Randolph; one brother, Donald (Doris) King of Aurora, Ill.; three nieces, two nephews, other relatives and his extended family, Brenda (Doug) Wells and their family of Randolph.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on March 14, 1972; his daughter, Sandra Jean King in 1989; his siblings, Luzern J. King, Merle Meenk and Dorothy Guerndt.
