RANDOLPH - Charles Waldemar Christian, 80, of Randolph, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at the Golden Living Center - Continental Manor.
Charles was born on Sept. 19, 1927, in Randolph, to Walter and Ella (Bahr) Christian. He served his country with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1945 to 1947. On Oct. 4, 1952, Charles was united in marriage to Jeanette Nintzel. He farmed all his life on the Christian Homestead near Randolph. He enjoyed planting and harvesting his crops. He also enjoyed maintaining a large garden. Charles was a lifelong member of Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church.
Charles is survived by Jeanette, his wife of 55 years; one son, Steve, at home; one daughter, Debra (Steven) Jenkins; his granddaughter, Jennifer (Jim) Feil; his grandson, Jay Jenkins, all of Randolph; two great-granddaughters, Summer and Danna; a sister, Adeline Schwandt, Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Buntrock, Watertown; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Parker, Beaver Dam, and Violet Burmeister, Portage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margaret Buntrock, and Eleanor Gestner.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, at Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church, 335 Jones Drive, Randolph, with the Rev. Walter Goers officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 9510 of Randolph. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, 208 S. High St., Randolph, and on Thursday at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
A memorial fund has been established for the Elevator Fund of Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church.
