Ida “Marie” Powell passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her Beaver Dam home Sunday evening, Oct. 25, 2009, at the young age of 49.
Marie was born July 28, 1960 in Columbus, the daughter of Luverne and Audrey (Austin) Hall. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in Ottumwa, Iowa. She went on to graduate with her LPN degree from Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac.
Marie had many medical problems beginning at an early age in life but continued to live life to the fullest with admirable perseverance. She was an intelligent, compassionate woman who always fought for what she believed in and for the people she loved. Some would say she was an awesome “detective.” Her daughter was her pride and joy and she loved spending time with her. She especially loved going to the beach, where the seagulls and waves would wash her worries away.
Marie will be forever loved and dearly missed by her only child, Cassie Marie Powell, Atlanta, Ga.; her parents, Luverne (Chip) and Audrey Hall, Mission, Texas; three sisters, Sandy (Leon) Peck, Ridgeland, Wis., Mary Beth (Ronald) Shea, Reeseville, and Teresa (Troy) Thom, Hustisford; and brother, Michael (Kathy) Hall, Lexington, Ky. Also surviving is Melissa (Hulme), a niece and many other nieces, nephews, their families and many friends, her loving dogs Kiki, Gizmo, and cat, Kitty Kitty.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, 150 W. Oak Grove St., Juneau. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated.
Marie is now pain free and resting peacefully.
