William A. Sommers

CAMBRIA/FRIESLAND - William “Bud” August Sommers died Tuesday morning Nov. 3, 2009, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Bud was born on June 9, 1923, in the Township of Randolph, the son of William and Hatti (Smits) Sommers. He was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Friesland. He farmed his whole life working for his father, neighboring farmers and for Doctor Patek.  

He lived off what God provided him and was a master beekeeper, an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman.

He will be missed by his brother Rhynold “Shinney” Sommers of rural Cambria, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his mother in 1961, his father in 1976, and one sister Katie Tamminga.

Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m. from the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home in Cambria with the Rev. John Unnasch officiating. Burial will follow in the Cambria Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home in Cambria on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home in Cambria, is serving the family.
