The Rev. Donald B. Braun, 78, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, in Waupun.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring St., Beaver Dam. The Very Rev. Patrick Heppe, vicar for the clergy of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee will preside, representing Bishop William Callahan and Bishop Richard Sklba. The Rev. Ed Wawrzyniakowski will be the homilist. Visitation will also take place at church on Saturday from 9 to 10:50 a.m. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee.
Donald Bernard Braun was born on Feb. 19, 1931, to Edward and Martha (Schultz) Braun in West Allis, Wis. He was ordained into the priesthood on May 25. Father Don’s priestly ministry began June 21, 1957, as an associate pastor at Mother of Perpetual Help Parish, Milwaukee. He also served as associate pastor at St. Wenceslaus Parish in Milwaukee in 1964, until he was named pastor in 1978. He was named pastor at Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Nenno, with Mission of St. Anthony in Allenton, Wis., in 1980. In 1990, he was appointed pastor of St. Mary Parish, Fox Lake, currently Annunciation Parish. He retired in June 1999.
Survivors include his sister, Arlene Estes, Colorado; his long-time housekeeper and friend, Judy Jacobs, Waupun; friends, Ed and Joy Lachendro and family of Beaver Dam, and John and Debbie Setzke and family of Beaver Dam, and his Catholic family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his faithful companions, Max and Molly.
