Robert “Bob” Henry Vine, 84, died on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Golden LivingCenter in Beaver Dam.
Robert was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Montfort, Wis., to Archibald and Julia (Draves) Vine. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and worked in the Naval post office. He greatly enjoyed his memories of serving in the Navy. Upon leaving the Navy he returned to Montfort and worked at the U.S. Post Office.
Bob married the former Gladys M. Sharpee in 1947. The couple moved to Madison where Bob was employed at Oscar Mayer as a spice technician for 36 years. After retiring in 1986, Bob moved to Marshall and enjoyed traveling the state for many years to enjoy the dancing and to hear the music of some of the top polka bands.
For the last several years he resided at Golden LivingCenter in Beaver Dam.
Bob is survived by children, Colleen (Dan) Beck, Miamisburg, Ohio, Lawrence (Sandra) Vine, Beaver Dam, and Bradley (Deb) Vine, Kalida, Ohio; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Sharpee, Columbus, and Rena Lunde, Sun Prairie, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles and sisters Rosie Gard and Roxy Fox.
Inurnment fwill be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in the village of Montford, Wis.
