Frank Sawejka

Frank “Frankie” Sawejka, also known as “Juke Box Willie”, 92, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 127 W. Maple Ave., Beaver Dam, with the Rev. Father Charles Scheuerell as Celebrant. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 3:30 p.m. until the time of Mass at 4:30 p.m. at 127 W. Maple Avenue. Inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Frank was born the son of Anton and Agnes (Gotaviska) Sawejka on Nov. 27, 1916, in Beaver Dam. He was married to Ruth Schulteis on June 21, 1941. 

Frank had been employed at Gishholt in Madison and at Kirsh Foundry in Beaver Dam. He and his wife Ruth also owned and operated Sawejka Enterprises.

He enjoyed trips to Europe, especially Germany. Frank also enjoyed wood working especially constructing box jointed boxes, planters, trellises and wishing wells. He also enjoyed growing tomatoes. Frank was a member of the Eagle’s Club and the Music Operators of America.

Frank is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Sawejka; and his children, Beverly (Franz) Posset, Beaver Dam, David (Debbie Neuman) Sawejka, Beaver Dam, and Karen (Gary) Seering, Burnett; his grandchildren, Martin (Dana) Posset, Rebecca (Eli) Katzenmeyer, Jason Neuman, Jocelyn (Steve) Henning, Jenni Czecholinski and Josh Serring and great-grandchildren, Elliot and Nathaniel Posset, Mia and Max Katzenmeyer, Mikayla and Jarret Henning, Tanner Czecholinski and Claytin Frank.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers and sisters, Alfred, Ambrose, Rose, Martha (Sister Mynetta, SSND), Veronica, Eleanor and Madge.

Memorial may be directed to the Hillside Hospice Program.
